Guardian authorization for minors
For the South African service, a learner under 18 is treated as a minor. Full minor enrolment is intended to require approval from a parent, guardian or other competent person as contemplated by POPIA. A guardian relationship must be linked to the learner account rather than assumed from access to an email address.
Learner assent and dignity
Guardian permission does not remove the learner’s right to understand what is happening. Pathcraft should explain, in age-appropriate language, what it remembers, who can see progress and what choices the learner has.
What guardians should see
Guardians may see assignments, completion status, broad mastery or progress, areas needing support and safety or account information appropriate to their role. Pathcraft is designed to avoid raw transcript surveillance, public comparison and labels such as “lazy”, “weak” or permanent intelligence scores.
Homework set by a guardian
A guardian may assign learning work to a linked learner. Pathcraft can guide the learner through that work, record whether it was started or completed, capture learning evidence and summarise where the learner appeared to struggle. Reports should focus on support actions, not blame.
Adults, teachers and minors
Unvetted adults should not enter private learner rooms. Teacher or tutor access to minors should be verified, scoped, logged and guardian-approved where required. Early multiplayer and collaboration controls should favour private rooms, no open direct messaging and age-appropriate participation.
Money and game safety
The Fulfillment Center uses pretend money and educational simulations. It is not gambling, banking, credit advice or an investment product. Learner game outcomes must not be used for real credit, insurance, employment or admission decisions.
No behavioural advertising to children
Pathcraft does not intend to build a business model around behavioural advertising to minors or selling learner profiles to advertisers.
Data minimisation
We aim to collect only what is needed for identity, consent, learning, safety and support. Sensitive uploads and learner work should be stored privately and access-controlled. Location, contacts, microphone, camera or similar device capabilities should only be requested when a feature genuinely needs them.
Reporting concerns
Report a child-safety or privacy concern to [email protected]. If someone is in immediate danger, contact a trusted adult or the appropriate local emergency service rather than relying on Pathcraft.
